A cut too far for disabled students

On April 7th the Coalition announced in the name of 'modernisation' that they would be cutting Government Funding for the 53,000 full-time undergraduate higher education students that are receiving the Disabled Students Allowance.

The government intend to restrict those eligible to receive laptops and computers. Non-medical support like note-taking will no longer be covered under DSA, shifting greater responsibility onto institutions who have already undergone huge cuts by the Coalition and have had a failed student funding model imposed on them.

I am totally opposed to this cut to disabled students and signed up to the campaign at Leeds Metropolitan University Students Union

Disabled People have already been unfairly targeted by this Coalition Government bearing the brunt of the Bedroom Tax and work capability assessments, this is a cut too far.
